A Search for Fluctuation-Dissipation Theorem Violations in Spin Glasses from Susceptibility Data

چکیده
– We propose an indirect way of studying the fluctuation-dissipation relation in spin-glasses that only uses available susceptibility data. It is based on a dynamic extension of the Parisi-Toulouse approximation and a Curie-Weiss treatment of the average magnetic couplings. We present the results of the analysis of several sets of experimental data obtained from various samples. Introduction.— The fluctuation-dissipation theorem (FDT) relates the response of a magnetic system to the magnetization correlation function at equilibrium. In its integrated form FDT states that

Violations of the fluctuation - dissipation theorem in glassy systems : basic notions and the numerical evidence
This review reports on the research done during the past years on violations of the fluctuation-dissipation theorem (FDT) in glassy systems. It is focused on the existence of a quasi-fluctuation-dissipation theorem (QFDT) in glassy systems and the currently supporting knowledge gained from numerical simulation studies. It covers a broad range of non-stationary aging and stationary driven system...
متن کاملFinite Dimensional Spin Glasses
We study the violation of the fluctuation-dissipation theorem in the three and four dimensional Gaussian Ising spin glasses using on and off equilibrium simulations. We have characterized numerically the function X(C) that determine the violation and we have studied its scaling properties. Moreover we have computed the function x(C) which characterize the breaking of the replica symmetry direct...
متن کاملOff-equilibrium fluctuation-dissipation relation in a spin glass
We report new experimental results obtained on the insulating spin glass CdCr1.7In0.3S4. Our experimental setup allows a quantitative comparison between the thermo-remanent magnetisation and the autocorrelation of spontaneous fluctuations of magnetisation, yielding a complete determination of the fluctuation-dissipation relation. The dynamics can be studied both in the quasi-equilibrium regime,...
متن کاملMixing, Ergodicity and the Fluctuation-Dissipation Theorem in complex systems
Complex systems such as glasses, gels, granular materials, and systems far from equilibrium exhibit violation of the ergodic hypothesis (EH) and of the fluctuation-dissipation theorem (FDT). Recent investigations in systems with memory [1] have established a hierarchical connection between mixing, the EH and the FDT. They have shown that a failure of the mixing condition (MC) will lead to the s...
متن کاملEffective temperatures from the fluctuation-dissipation measurements in soft glassy materials
We have investigated the validity of the fluctuation-dissipation theorem (FDT) and the applicability of the concept of effective temperature in a number of non-equilibrium soft glassy materials. Using a combination of passive and active microrheology to measure displacement fluctuations and the mechanical response function of probe particles embedded in the materials, we have directly tested th...
